How to set yourself up for success this Fall

Happy short week! Labour day weekend officially closes off Summer and kicks off the start of a new season. The air is crisp, the days are shorter and the oversize sweaters are coming out of the closet.

Summer is a hard time to keep up with the grind. Social activities start to take over your schedule and let’s be honest – with only a few hot months in Canada, the last thing we want to do is spend it inside. It’s safe to assume that most of us don’t go as ‘hard’ in the warmer months.

That’s why Fall is an exciting time – even in the last few weeks we’ve noticed people’s motivated, determined and get at it posts, ready to crush some goals! We are feeling the same way and ready to get it done these last 4 months of the year.

Here are a few tips and tricks to get back on track and slay the end of the year:

Dust off your goals

At the start of a new year, it’s pretty common for everyone, regardless if you have a business or not to set some goals for yourself. However, we often keep on top of them at the beginning of the year and once Summer rolls around, they are out of sight, out of mind. Dust those bad boys off and reflect on the goals you set for yourself. Now is the time to see where you are at in your list, what you have left to accomplish and how you’re going to get it done.

Make mini goals

Once you’ve dusted off your goals and you’re reenergized to get them done – make mini goals for each one. You have 4 months until the end of the year, so break them down into weekly or bi-weekly goals of what you need to do to get everything accomplished. If we leave them as is, chances are you’ll be scrambling at the end of the year and feeling down on yourself for letting them fall apart.

Download some motivational Podcasts

You know the saying “you are the average of the 5 people you surround yourself with” – the same goes for the content your consuming. If you are constantly listening to celebrity drama or the latest gossip, chances are it’s not getting you motivated to crush some goals. Take some time to download 5 podcasts that provide creative, intelligent and motivational content. Listening to other successful people will give you the kiss in the a*s you need to get going.

Review your finances

Summer is filled with social activities and extra curriculars that cost money. Check in on your finances and reflect on your spending. It’s okay that you enjoyed yourself but now it’s time to focus and be mindful of what you’re putting your money towards. Give yourself a weekly budget and cut the spending down… there’s a reason it’s called hibernation season (lol).

Clean your office space

Nothing like a good fall cleaning… If you’re anything like us, your office space usually gets the least amount of love when it comes to organization. In fact, it tends to become a dumping ground of receipts, papers and other things that fall into the ‘I’ll get to it later’ pile. Take a couple hours on your Sunday to declutter your space – maybe even hit up Homesense to get some new office décor. It will set you up for a productive workspace and motivate you to get your work done.

Get back into a fitness routine

With Fall comes shorter days, which means it gets dark quick – which also means, we never want to leave the house. It can be hard but create a fitness routine for yourself during this season. Whether it’s a daily walk, fitness classes or a swim at your local rec centre – schedule it in your day to keep your body moving. It will keep you energized and give you a quick mental break to stay focused on your goals.

We are super excited for this season and what’s to come. We’ve set the bar pretty high for business goals but we’re more motivated than ever to get them done. The start of a new season is a great time to reflect on where you are and what’s still to come – so take advantage of these last 4 months and crush it.
